PHP Releases Critical Fixes for Vulnerabilities Affecting Crypto Infrastructure
PHP released critical fixes for two vulnerabilities on October 21, urging immediate updates for users of PHP-based web infrastructure. The vulnerabilities allow unauthenticated remote code execution, with fixed versions being PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, and 8.2.35. Installations serving web requests, particularly those using Apache mod_php, are at risk. Affected users are encouraged to update immediately, as distribution vendors may provide patched packages depending on their software maintenance. The advisory does not indicate a breach of Bitcoin or BTCPay Server itself. Merchants using BTCPay Server with WooCommerce must ensure all components, including checkout websites and hosting environments, are updated, as updating one part does not guarantee the security of the entire stack. The PHP advisory emphasizes the need for administrators to verify that their running environment includes the necessary fixes. No claims of stolen customer funds or specific compromises of crypto companies are made in the advisory.
