Whop Completes $200 Million Series D Funding, Valuation Reaches $5.1 Billion
Whop announced on October 21 that it has completed a $200 million Series D funding round, with a post-money valuation of $5.1 billion. This round was co-led by Sequoia Capital and Shopify Ventures. Some market reports have recorded the funding amount as $205 million, but the company's official announcement confirms it as $200 million. This financing comes less than a year after Whop's previous funding round. In February 2026, Tether made a strategic investment of $200 million in Whop at a valuation of $1.6 billion, meaning the company's valuation has more than doubled in less than a year. Whop, headquartered in Palo Alto, was founded in 2021 by three founders who met as teenagers while developing software for tracking sneaker releases. The current CEO is co-founder Steven Schwartz. The platform caters to individual entrepreneurs and small businesses, providing a one-stop infrastructure for business setup, payment distribution, and operational tools. Currently, approximately 25,000 merchants conduct business through Whop, generating about $550 million in transaction volume on the platform each month. The platform also creates income sources for over 50,000 related service providers, with revenue primarily coming from commissions on platform transactions, averaging around 6%.
