NFT farming games draw copycat claims after Yield Fields mint
NFT farming games have drawn copycat criticism after Yield Fields sold out its 3,333-deed collection, with an Oct. 28 post describing six variations on the farming theme and questioning the quality of games built with AI.
Summary
- Six farming-game variations appeared in SafZ's post, without project-by-project mint or trading figures.
- Yield Fields' reported $8.3 million sale value depends on an assumption about mint pricing.
- OpenSea's retrieved collection page displayed $3.3 million in total trading volume and 1,221 owners.
- SafZ linked the pace of game launches to AI tools and warned users to research purchases.
In an Oct. 28 X post, SafZ described the projects as variations of Yield Fields, listing games centered on monkeys, egg hatching, banking, fishing, floating islands and boss fights.
NFT farming games face criticism over familiar designs
SafZ introduced the list with "Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V from Yield Fields before describing how developers were adapting the farming format to different settings. A collage beneath the post showed a dozen game images, including pixel-art fields, islands, and other game environments.
Although the post listed six variations, it did not attach a collection name or contract address to each description.
"It's so easy to ship a game with AI now. Some are good, some are hella bad," SafZ wrote, describing the pattern as the current market "meta" and saying more games would probably follow.
The warning concerned research before buying or playing. SafZ urged readers to do a minimum amount of reading before a mint and ended with "Don't get farmed." The post did not identify a confirmed rug pull, document stolen funds, or present a technical examination of any game's code.
Yield Fields' $8.3 million figure carries a pricing caveat
According to BlockchainGamerBiz's Oct. 14 account, Yield Fields opened its public auction at 6 p.m. UTC on Oct. 13 and sold out in roughly 30 seconds. The auction was designed to run for 24 hours, starting at 1 ETH and falling to 0.069 ETH, but settled at 0.999688 ETH.
The publication qualified its $8.3 million estimate: applying the final price to all 3,333 deeds produces approximately 3,332 ETH, but an earlier guaranteed whitelist allocation made the actual proceeds uncertain. Its report did not establish that whitelist buyers paid the public auction's final price.
On Oct. 28, Yield Fields' own website displayed a message that its lobby was open on Robinhood and provided a link to enter.
OpenSea's collection page identified Yield Field Deeds as a 3,333-item collection on Robinhood Chain with a 5% creator fee. The retrieved page displayed a floor price of $2,015.05, a top offer of $1,863.63, $33,000 in 24-hour volume and $3.3 million in total volume.
The same marketplace snapshot showed 203 items listed, representing 6.1% of supply, and 1,221 unique owners.
Using OpenSea's displayed dollar figures, the gap between the lowest asking price and top offer was $151.42, or approximately 7.5% of the floor. The marketplace presented the two prices separately, alongside trading volume, ownership, and the share of items listed for sale.
Robinhood Chain NFT sales predate the latest farming debate
Earlier NFT launches on the network included Spritehood, whose 42,956 paid NFT mints generated a reported $1,282,852 on Aug. 11, as crypto.news previously reported. On-chain analyst 0xlaplaced calculated the proceeds from two paid tiers: 37,430 tokens at $17 and 5,526 at $117.
Another 1,488 tokens were distributed free, bringing Spritehood's reported supply to 44,444. The account distinguished the number of tokens issued from the number purchased, and reported that the contract's source code appeared unverified on the network's explorer.
For U.S. readers, the Aug. 11 coverage stated that Robinhood is a U.S.-listed brokerage, while an NFT's use of its public blockchain does not establish company approval or the protections associated with a brokerage account. Nothing in SafZ's post identified a Robinhood endorsement of the games pictured.

Earlier network research tracked outside trading activity
ARK Invest research director Lorenzo Valente examined Robinhood Wallet transaction routing in September. His analysis put transactions through a clearly identified Robinhood Wallet swap contract below 1% of the activity reviewed, with a possible share near 5% after allowing for unidentified contracts.
Valente attributed much of the remaining identifiable activity to GMGN and OKX. His findings concerned transaction routes across the network, without measuring Yield Fields players or the audience for the games in the Oct. 28 post.
