Dragonfly Partner Claims Cybersecurity Attack Wave is Similar to COVID-19 Pandemic
Dragonfly Managing Partner Haseeb Qureshi pointed out that the cybersecurity field is facing an attack wave that is "similar to the COVID-19 pandemic." He stated that on-chain hacking incidents are the "canary in the coal mine" for cybersecurity, as on-chain is the easiest place for cyber attacks to be monetized. According to data from DefiLlama Research, the number of on-chain hacking incidents has sharply increased, but the annualized scale of stolen amounts is roughly equivalent to that of 2025, with losses per incident decreasing. Qureshi believes that most small protocols have already been compromised, while larger protocols have strengthened their defenses using AI tools. He expects similar situations to emerge in the broader internet space.
