Ukrposhta Updates Export Requirements for Packages to the USA

Starting from July 24, new customs clearance rules for international packages will come into effect in the USA. A mandatory 10-digit commodity code (UKT VED or TN VED) will be required, and instead of a flat duty rate of 10%, rates will vary depending on the category of goods. Ukrposhta will update its systems on July 21 to process packages according to the new procedures. Senders are advised to arrange shipments through their personal account on the Ukrposhta website, where they can immediately see the amount of duty. Key changes include: duty rates will depend on the category of goods, a mandatory 10-digit commodity code, and the threshold for simplified clearance will increase from $800 to $2500. To integrate with US customs procedures, Ukrposhta has engaged the American customs broker Zonos. In branches, only gift shipments will be temporarily accepted without prior clearance. The rules for gifts remain unchanged: the duty-free limit is $100, and one sender can send no more than five such packages. Last year, Ukrposhta reached an agreement with the USA on new delivery conditions.
