Trump Claims He Will Protect Musk If Democrats Investigate His Associates
During a podcast interview with the New York Post, President Trump stated that he would protect individuals like Musk if the Democrats take control of Congress after the midterm elections and initiate investigations or prosecutions against them. Trump expressed skepticism about the Democrats arresting Musk, saying, "That won't happen, it's just talk," but if it does occur, he would take protective measures. Trump also mentioned that he would be willing to follow Biden's example and grant preemptive pardons to those who have worked for him if necessary. He noted that he had taken similar actions during the events of January 6. Additionally, Trump stated that he does not believe Musk's warning about the Democrats potentially "sweeping" is incorrect. Musk tweeted on October 30 that if the Democrats control the House, Senate, and presidency simultaneously in 2028, they might push for statehood for Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico to expand their Senate advantage. On October 23, Trump publicly defended Musk, stating that Musk "can never do anything wrong."
