Japanese internet giant GMO Group's cloud desktop service has suffered unauthorized access, potentially affecting up to 26,739 servers. The hackers initially demanded a ransom of $50 million in their ransom note, which was later reduced to $1 million, threatening to conduct abnormal transactions in victim accounts and expose user data. GMO Group representative Masatoshi Kumagai stated that they refuse to compromise and have not paid any amount; their cryptocurrency exchange GMO Coin confirmed that no abnormal operations were found in customer accounts. The hackers subsequently released some data and threatened to update it daily, while the domain hosting the leaked information was shut down on the morning of October 28.
