The Federal Reserve's Beige Book indicates that from late May to June, economic activity in 11 out of 12 Federal Reserve districts experienced slight to moderate growth, with the overall pace of growth remaining roughly the same as in the previous period. High oil prices and other factors have suppressed some consumer spending, leading consumers to cut back on non-essential purchases and shift towards lower-priced goods. The tourism sector has seen a rebound, with World Cup-related traffic boosting certain regions. Manufacturing continues to grow moderately, with increased orders in data centers, machinery, and defense sectors. Construction and real estate activities have shown slight improvement, with data center construction being a highlight. Drilling activity in the energy sector has increased, and financial conditions remain generally stable, with commercial and consumer loan volumes rising moderately. However, agriculture has been affected by declining commodity prices, rising costs, and tightening credit. Most respondents expect the economy to continue expanding in the coming months, but there remains significant uncertainty regarding fuel cost outlooks.
