Elon Musk Says AI Agents Could Engage in Crypto Theft
Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that artificial intelligence agents may turn to stealing crypto assets to generate income for their own accounts in the future. This statement was made during discussions about a major security breach targeting Binance on October 30. Musk responded to crypto commentator Blaney's explanation regarding methods that go beyond the freezing of assets seized in the Binance attack. Blaney reported that Tether and Circle froze billions of dollars worth of USDT and USDC following the security breach. It was noted that the attacker deposited $60 million worth of USDT into the decentralized lending protocol Aave, obtaining approximately $44.6 million in wrapped ETH as a loan. Binance announced that the attack involved around $6.3 billion in crypto assets and that approximately $3 billion worth of affected assets had been frozen. Musk's statement highlighted the intersection between crypto security and the future impacts of artificial intelligence.
