Bitcoin Fails to Reach Usual Minimum Before Midterm Elections

By: coinspot.io|10/24/2026 22:42:00

Ten days before the midterm elections in the U.S., Bitcoin is showing dynamics that differ from previous cycles, where significant lows were observed. In 2026, a local minimum was recorded on July 1 at $57,850, occurring 125 days before the elections on November 3. By October 22, the price had recovered to $81,455, increasing by 40% from the July low. In previous election cycles, such as January 2015, December 2018, and November 2022, the lows were formed 71, 38, and 13 days after voting, respectively. In 2018, Bitcoin lost about 29% six months before the elections, while in 2022, the decline was 37%. At the same time, technology sector stocks, such as Invesco QQQ Trust, also faced pressure, dropping 23% from the end of September to December 2018. Over the last 30 days, Bitcoin and QQQ both lost 6%, but over 90 days, Bitcoin rose by 26%, while QQQ only added 3%. This indicates that Bitcoin's weakness around the elections is more related to internal market factors than to the electoral calendar.
